Omar Barghouti, founder and leader of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, was denied entry to the United States on Wednesday.

The decision to deny Barghouti entry may be part of a larger crackdown on BDS in the United States.

Barghouti scheduled a speaking tour at places including Harvard and New York universities; meetings with policymakers in Washington, D.C.; and an appearance at a bookstore owned by Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill, who was fired from CNN in November after addressing the United Nations, where he called for Israel’s annihilation.

BDS: In Their Own Words

“[Israel] was Palestine, and there is no reason why it should not be renamed Palestine.” Omar Barghouti

“Going back to the two-state solution, besides having passed its expiry date, it was never a moral solution to start with.We are witnessing the rapid demise of Zionism, and nothing can be done to save it, for Zionism is intent on killing itself.” Omar Barghouti

“A Jewish state in Palestine in any shape or form cannot but contravene the basic rights of the indigenous Palestinian population and perpetuate a system of racial discrimination that ought to be opposed categorically….Definitely, most definitely we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No Palestinian, rational Palestinian, not a sell-out Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.” Omar Barghouti

“[Jews] did not suffer in Arab countries. There were no pogroms. There was no persecution.” Omar Barghouti

New AntiSemitism Envoy, “Boycotting Israel is anti-Semitic”

“An individual has a right to buy or not buy what they please. However, if there is an organized movement to economically strangle the state of Israel, that is anti-Semitic. We are going to focus relentlessly on eradicating this false distinction between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism.” Elan Carr, New Special Envoy for Combating Anti-Semitism

Women’s rights activists from Gaza are raising awareness about the horrific violence women face in the coastal enclave, including the very real danger of being murdered by their own family members.

A ground-breaking campaign for women’s rights in Gaza is being conducted mostly on social media, which aims to encourage women to expose harassment they have encountered while safeguarding their honor.

Zinab Animi, head of Institute for the Defense of Women in Gaza, said that an Arab and Muslim woman has tremendous difficulty complaining to the police or testifying in court, and therefore the phenomenon is treated with silence by Gaza’s society.

Media Watchdog: Palestinian Law ‘Murders Women Twice’

Palestinian Women’s Rights groups are demanding revocation of a Palestinian Authority (PA) law allowing the murder victim's family to “waive its personal right” to justice. “A man who murdered his wife is released after 2.5 years? Why? Because the murderer's family waived the wife’s personal right.”

In major break with the past, German agency for domestic security publishes 40-pg report: Antisemitism in Islamism.

Like many experts, the report sees a turning point in the German awareness of Islamist antisemitism in a demonstration which took place in Berlin in 2017. There, placards were carried demanding the destruction of Israel, and an Israeli flag was burned. The report notes that these extremist acts were initiated by people who were unknown to have any prior relationship with Islamist organizations. The latter fact has probably never been published before.

The study states that it is crucial to counteract the spread of extreme antisemitism among the Muslim population in Germany. That requires a greater awareness of this problem in the public domain.

The report lists major antisemitic expressions of Islamist antisemitism such as: “Jews control finance and the economy,” “Jews operate with the help of secret agents and organizations,” and “there is an eternal battle between Muslims and Jews.” The report also lists the various extreme Muslim and Islamist organizations that are active in Germany. These include the local Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, Hizb Ut-Tahrir, ISIS, the Turkish Milli Görus, as well as Salafists.
